Raeann Stengel

LCSW, MSCFT

Therapist & MSCFT

Raeann Stengel (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy, and also is trained as a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). Raeann worked in JCPS for 6 years as a high school Spanish teacher before making the career switch to become a therapist. Raeann completed a dual master’s degree in Social Work and Couples and Family Therapy in 2023.

Raeann’s background includes working with individuals, families, and couples in various settings ranging from community mental health to university clinics. In 2021, Raeann became certified in trauma-informed yoga teaching and realized the beauty and effectiveness of integrating a holistic and somatic approach into therapy. Raeann utilized yoga in her healing work with members of the substance use disorder recovery community.  Due to Raeann’s training as both a social worker and a marriage and family therapist, she also often utilizes a systemic lens in individual therapy, considering the systems both relationally and environmentally that may be impacting an individual.

Raeann specializes in working with life transitions, burnout, career changes, women’s issues, grief and loss, complex trauma, mood disorders, and relational issues. In relational work, Raeann provides a structured environment for couples and families to explore and work through problematic family dynamics.

With individuals, she takes a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to help facilitate client’s access to their own intrinsic wisdom. Raeann often uses an Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approach, drawing from the concept that we all have many “parts,” as well as an intrinsic “Self” that can be described as compassionate, courageous, curious, creative, calm, connected, confident, and has clarity. In this approach, Raeann facilitates a process that helps the client meet, learn about, befriend, and unburden the various parts of themself that have taken on roles throughout their life that do not feel aligned with the authentic self. Through IFS therapy, we learn how to release the burdens that our parts have carried (shame, trauma, grief, fear) so that our authentic Self can step forward and lead.

In addition to IFS, Raeann draws from mindfulness-based therapies, person-centered therapy, somatic work, polyvagal theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and is trained in Brainspotting therapy for trauma healing. She strives to provide therapy that is affirming to your unique identity and understands the importance of religious, sexual, gender, and racial identity in the healing process.
