Advocacy

At Bridge, we have always prioritized quality care, clinician wellbeing, and community investment. Bridge is a clinician-owned practice that accepts most insurance, but those insurance companies have become increasingly challenging to work with. Reimbursement cuts, denials, and audits are pushing therapists out of insurance networks, leaving clients with fewer affordable options for care.

At the same time, investor-backed platforms are buying up more and more of mental health care, and some of the nation’s largest insurers have invested in, or even own, the very platforms they pay. That squeezes independent practices, narrows client choice, and can place clients’ therapy records, and even facial scans, in corporate hands.

When money shapes care, wealth is extracted from the communities that care is meant to serve. We believe in putting power back into the hands of the people, because when clinicians and communities stand together, heart-led and collectively minded, we can build care that is mutually respectful, sustainable, and truly ours.

That belief led our co-founder, Nicole Sartini, M.Ed., LPCC, IMHP, to found Build Better Health (BBH), a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit working toward a health system that serves people well. BBH leads two initiatives.

The Mental Health Insurance Reform Task Force (MHIRTF) is a provider-led coalition of more than 4,000 members organizing across all 50 states and Washington, DC. MHIRTF works to make sure insurance covers mental health care as fairly as physical health care, as parity laws require, and to secure fair reimbursement for the clinicians who provide it. T

he coalition also works to protect independent practices from corporate consolidation, push for stronger safeguards over how platforms collect and use client data, and keep mental health care ethical and affordable for everyone.

People’s Solidarity Health is a community-governed, direct-pay healthcare cooperative launching its first pilot right here in Louisville in 2027, creating a new path for people to reach care at fair, transparent rates.

Bridge is proud to stand alongside this work. The values that guide our practice every day are the same ones driving a healthier system for clients and clinicians everywhere.
