Marie Coma-Thompson
LPCC, IMHP
Therapist & E-RYT 200
Marie Coma-Thompson (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200). She began working in the mental health field in 2000 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in psychology (BS) from the University of Pittsburgh, and she later completed her master’s in clinical mental health counseling (MEd) at the University of Louisville. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, a psychiatric hospital, and a grief counseling center. In 2007, Marie started teaching yoga and meditation and began to discover the many ways in which yogic philosophy aligns with theories of psychology and mental health.
Marie specializes in working with grief, loss, and trauma, and she also has experience working with anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and relationship issues. She takes a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to therapy and has a gift for relating to and uncovering a person’s highest self. In her work, Marie draws from mindfulness-based therapies such as acceptance and commitment therapy as well as from person-centered therapy, somatic work, polyvagal theory, Buddhist psychology, and existential approaches. She has training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and is interested in the healing power of non-ordinary states of consciousness. Marie is also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment for trauma. Marie will meet you where you are and help you develop a personalized, integrative path to healing and personal growth.
Marie Coma-Thompson loves sharing the healing practices of yoga and meditation and making them accessible to everyone. She has been practicing yoga since childhood, first learning from her parents. In 2007, Marie completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Eternal Health Yoga and has been teaching ever since. She is a registered yoga teacher (E-RYT-200) and loves teaching multiple styles of yoga, including Power Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin. Her classes are lovingly inspired by her own yoga and meditation practice, and the focus is on feeling safe and present in your body through the union of breath, movement, and awareness.
