Amberly Burns

Amberly Burns is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well as a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Indiana University Southeast in 2020 and a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy, with a specialization in Alcohol and Drug Counseling, from the University of Louisville in 2022. Amberly has experience working with adolescents and adults in substance use recovery, mental health treatment, and crisis stabilization from acute psychiatric inpatient care at UofL Peace Hospital to outpatient substance use treatment at The Morton Center.

Amberly’s commitment to supporting our community includes offering a space for family members and individuals to heal from the impact of substance related issues and mental health challenges. She is skilled in facilitating family, couples, and individual sessions, by working collaboratively with clients to navigate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and complex grief, and evokes an atmosphere of change through unconditional positive regard. Additionally, Amberly offers relationship counseling for couples surrounding communication issues, conflict resolution, intimacy, and betrayal. Amberly helps clients connect through family of origin experiences, attachment styles, and emotional intelligence to create space for vulnerability and understanding. Amberly is goal-oriented, passionate about mental health, and utilizes a strengths-based, person-centered, and collaborative approach with clients. It is her belief that every person deserves the opportunity for change!
